. . . Italian charms I have . . .
(links other than those listed are blank, of course)

* With all of these descriptions, I start with the center charm(s), and work to the right.

L1: the "Best of Broadway" bracelet/watch
(worn on left wrist)

A black and silver, heart-shaped watch face is the center of this bracelet, with charms representing my work with Best of Broadway surrounding it. My plan is to do the show so many times that this will be full. So far, I have:
  • A kaleidoscope-patterned flower
... the 2004 production (my first) was called "Kaleidoscope."
  • An angel
... with auburn hair and a purple gown, on a black background. This is to represent the fundraising gala known as "Be An Angel."
  • A seahorse
... A lovely black seahorse I found at the peach festival in Marysville, California. This is for the 2005 production, "Light Up the Night," because of an inside joke made its way around the cast about a seahorse.

L2: the "live, laugh, love" bracelet
(worn on left wrist, under L1)
  • The centerpiece of this bracelet is a three piece set of pink charms with black script text, one reading "live," the next reading "laugh," and the other reading "love." Then, we have...
  • An "E" with green stones
... A gold "E" on a silver background, with small green stones (on the E itself). This is for Elliott Yamin, my favorite American Idol contestant of all time. Green was designated his color by his fans (and will be worn by most of us when we attend the American Idols Live Tour), hence the stones.
  • I (heart) Michael
... My boyfriend's name is Michael, and I love him, but I'm actually using this one for Michael Jackson, since I already have Mike represented on bracelet R1 (see below). I was given this charm for free with the purchase of the watch face for L1, because the lady thought Mike and I were cute together (which, ya know, we are... hee hee).

R1: San Francisco
(right wrist, at top)
  • The centerpiece of this one is a double-width charm of the Golden Gate Bridge, which is easily my prettiest charm, and gets the most comments of any. It features the bridge in it's lovely orange color, clouds, and sparkling water, on a blue sky. Very cool. I bought it at Pier 39 the day I met my online friend Amanda in person (March 26, 2005). San Francisco has always held a very special place in my heart, so I had to have this.
  • An ankh
... Egyptian symbol of eternal life, worn in honor of Ron Goldman. It also happens to be the logo of Anastacia, one of my favorite singers.
  • I (heart) my boyfriend
  • Mike
... The first charm is gold text (and a red heart) on a black enamel background, the second is a silver "laser" type charm, reading Mike. I love my boyfriend, Mike, hence the charms saying so. ;) Mike bought the "Mike" charm for me in Old Sacramento, and I found the boyfriend charm at the BX in Travis Airforce Base (where I was shopping with Mike and his mom).
  • The Canadian flag
... Most of you know about my love of all things Canadian, so this makes perfect sense to you. ;) It's mainly here to represent my favorite band, Barenaked Ladies (from Ontario).
  • 100
... A laser-type charm featuring "100" in black text on a (subtle) gold background. This is in honor of my losing 100 pounds; I've got more to go, but I wanted to celebrate that milestone.
  • Purple butterfly
... Several reasons for this one: my favorite color is purple, I like butterflies, and I like Mariah Carey (whose calling card is the butterfly).
  • Cosmo
... The green-haired male fairy from the show "Fairly Oddparents." I just adore him. The charm is Cosmo waving his wand, with a flower in his teeth.
  • a basketball
... My favorite sport is basketball, and many of my best childhood memories center around playing it with my friends.
  • a crowing rooster
... For one of my favorite musicians, Jason Mraz (his mascot/logo was a rooster when he first came on the scene).
  • a star
... A cubic zirconia star, to represent *NSYNC.
  • A jack-o-lantern
... My favorite holiday is Halloween, and the main reason why is that I love to carve jack-o-lanterns.
  • dolphin
... A dark blue (enamel style) dolphin. I used to go to Marine World in Vallejo with Mom nearly every weekend when I was a kid, it was a big deal in my life (and yes, I spent most of my time there hanging out by the dolphins). Dolphins have also taken on a deeper, spiritual meaning to me recently, because of the book "Animal Voices" by Dawn Baumann Brunke, so I'm very glad this is here.
  • piano keys
... For Richard Marx, one of the best musicians of all time.
  • A silver and turquoise "3-D" heart
... Turquoise was my traditional birthstone (December), before it was changed to blue zircon, or whatever the heck that is, now.
  • Bart Simpson
... A round, white circle with Bart's face inside it. Bart isn't my favorite Simpson (that would be Maggie), but he seems more like a symbol of the show than any other character.
  • Treble clef on a staff
... For Sam Watters and Louis Biancaniello, my favorite songwriting/production team. I chose that mainly because Sam used to use a treble clef as the "S" in his autograph back in Color Me Badd's early days, and, of course, the staff represents songwriting in general to me.

That brings us back around to the San Francisco charm, thus concluding our tour of bracelet R1.
R2: "The X-Files and me bracelet"
(worn on the right wrist, just beneath R1, almost connected)
In what I consider the center of this bracelet, we have:
  • My initials, PLM
... Three charms, plain gold letters on silver charms. The "M" needs to be replaced soon.
  • The X-Files
... A photo-type charm, which shows "The X-Files" logo with a green glow around it. One of my favorite shows of all time (tied with The Simpsons).
  • my birth year, (19)78
... Two charms, a 7 and an 8, plain gold on silver charms.

    Then we move on to...

  • A pig
... I love pigs, and I collect anything depicting them -- if I didn't have a pig charm, people would wonder who I was, and what I'd done with Patricia ;)

  • Peace
... A little gold rectangle with the word "peace" etched in black.
  • A gold dove/bird
... I think it's a good partner for the peace charm, plus, to me, birds stand for freedom, inner peace, and music.
  • Princess heart
... A red heart with Princess written in white. In honor of my dog called Princess, who passed away January 05, 2003.
  • I (heart) my (dachshund)
... My current dog, Maggie, is a dachshund/chihuahua mix. This is a silver, laser-type charm with I, a heart, and a dachshund sillhouette on it in black.
  • Bowling
... An enamel type charm featuring a blue bowling ball knocking down three pins. I got this for two reasons: my dad was a bowler, and I also love it.
  • Praying hands
... In memory of my dad, because he adored the praying hands image.
  • Mom
... A gold heart with a little red heart inside it, and the word "Mom." Obviously, for my mom.
  • A taxi cab
... Mom was a cab driver (and owner), so it reminds me of her, and how strong she is. I had to have more than one charm to represent her, since she's such a big part of me.
  • "Take One" clapboard
... A black and gold movie clapboard with "Take One" written on it. Color Me Badd's original name was Take One, and I adore them, so there you go. ;)
  • Smiley face
... The traditional yellow smiling face that annoyed everyone in the 1970s. I basically got this one because my good friend Diane had one on her Italian charm bracelet, so I thought it would represent her on mine. Make sense? OK, good.
  • Red flower
... I originally got this when I was really heavily into the band Maroon 5 (they have the exact flower all over their "Songs About Jane" album cover). Now, I still like them all right, but I mainly keep it because I like it... ha ha.
Thus concludes the tour of my Italian charm bracelets. :)
