instructions for installing
patriciasings' X-Files theme
first of all: you don't have to upload the icons to your
own server space unless you'd prefer to do so. I know a lot of
people want to use mood themes who don't have websites, and don't
want to mess with opening an account someplace just to upload
mood graphics. The coding contains the full URLs to each icon, so
it should work fine. If, somewhere down the line, bandwidth
becomes an issue, I may need to change this policy -- but I don't
think that will happen.
*based on directions by Kyla, and
CK/Dreamtrance
++ to see the theme and more details about it, click here (opens in a new window)
*you're welcome to use these for
any online journal if you know the installation procedure - I'm
only familiar with LiveJournal, so that's what these instructions
are for
- you have to have a LiveJournal paid account, otherwise they won't let you use custom mood themes
- right-click and save this file: xmoodsinput.txt
- you need to be logged in to your journal, then go here: LiveJournal Admin Console
(it will open in a new window so you can keep following these directions)
- in the little box, enter: moodtheme_create "xfiles moods" "X-Files mood icons"
and then click 'execute'
- the following page will say "Success. Your new moodthemeid=a number." That number is really important to remember so write it down somewhere.
- do not close this window yet.
- open xmoodsinput.txt. (the file you downloaded in step 2.)
- change all the "####" to whatever the number of your mood theme is (the one LiveJournal generated for you).
for example: moodtheme_setpic #### 2 http://www.nsyncable.com/journalmoods/x-files/angry.jpg 75 55
#### would be your number (and everything else would stay as it is)
- go back to the browser window. In the little box underneath where it gave you your mood icon set number, copy and paste all the codes from xmoodsinput.txt. (after you've changed the #### to your own number). Click 'execute'
- if it worked, you'll get a page that says 'data inserted' over and over and over. (it if says "Failed! You do not own this theme!," all that means is that you probably didn't change all the codes from #### to your number, so check your .txt file carefully, then try again)
- go to Modify Journal
- in the drop down menu to select your mood icon set, choose 'xfiles moods' (It will be at the bottom of the list under 'Personal Themes')
- click 'Save Changes'
- email me at hey-you@nsyncable.com (with "X-Files theme," or something similar, as the subject) if you're going to use them, so I can keep track of how useful my mood themes are -- and so I can notify those using the theme if anything changes, goes wrong, etc.
Enjoy, my fellow X-Philes!!
